Have you ever wanted to learn how to play chess but can’t find anyone to teach you? Or do you absolutely love chess and want to play against a worthy opponent? Well come to the Washington Park Library on a Thursday night! Every Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 8pm, our local chess instructor Sam will teach you how to play chess and/ or engage you in a thrilling game with other avid chess players. Recommended for ages 8 and up. All experience levels welcome, and chess boards and pieces are provided.

Come visit the Washington Park Library on Thursday November 29 between 6:30 and 7:30pm to meet the new Library Manager, Amy Rosa and enjoy some light refreshments! Every Librarian has a story; find out about Amy’s and enjoy an evening treat or two. Amy began working in libraries 20 years ago, received her degree at Indiana University 10 years ago and was previously working at the Mansfield Public Library. She is very enthusiastic to bring her unique programming ideas and talents to Washington Park. Amy is a native of Taunton, MA but has resided in Providence with her family for the past 8 years. Ask Amy about her library’s new and exciting after school clubs and classes, including the new Kids and Teens Creative Writing group, Coding with Dash Robots, Chess Club, Book Art Crafting programs and more.
